BEIJING, 12th September, 2023 (WAM) — Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, at the headquarters of the congress in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
During the meeting, Al Jarwan showcased the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in promoting the culture of tolerance and peace around the world.
Leji commended the council’s related efforts and affirmed his country’s recognition of the importance of promoting tolerance and peace worldwide. He also highlighted China’s keenness to strengthen its bilateral cooperation with the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.
Al Jarwan also met with Deng Li, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, at the ministry’s headquarters in Beijing to discuss the council’s international efforts to promote tolerance and peace.
Deng lauded the council’s work and stressed the deep-rooted relations between the UAE and China.
Al Jarwan and his delegation then met with Zhao Yide, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Province and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Province, to discuss ways of promoting cooperation and joint work in tolerance and peace.
The council’s delegation, headed by Al Jarwan, also visited the China Foreign Affairs University to discuss ways of enhancing their cooperation and joint work in promoting the efforts to spread the values of tolerance and peace around the world.
