Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, Uzbek delegation exchange experiences in safeguarding vulnerable groups

DUBAI, 28th July, 2023 (WAM) — The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) recently hosted a high-level delegation from Uzbekistan to exchange experiences and best practices to safeguard vulnerable groups and combat violence and exploitation.

The Uzbek delegation received a warm welcome from Ghanima Al Bahri, Director of the Care and Rehabilitation Department, and Shams Al Muhairi, Director of the Awareness and Community Services Department, along with other members of the Foundation.

The delegation was led by Nozima Davletova, Senior Consultant On Gender Issues in Uzbekistan, and Zulfia Abdul Rasulova, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the General Organisation for the Support and Development of National Media, along with Alexandra Nam, Chief Expert in the Management and Control of Adult Social Services at the National Social Protection.

During their visit, the Uzbek delegation were briefed on the Foundation's key practices and services for victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and child abuse. The two parties engaged in fruitful discussions about their initiatives and programmes dedicated to safeguarding the rights of women and children while offering vital psychological and social support.

As part of the visit, the Uzbek delegation received a comprehensive tour of the Foundation's facilities, including the Care and Rehabilitation Building. They were introduced to various methods, such as play therapy, group therapy, and the relaxation room, which have proven effective in aiding victims on their path to healing.

Additionally, the delegation was informed about the Foundation's remote litigation services, which have played a crucial role in extending support to those in need.

Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of the Foundation, emphasised the importance of international cooperation in protecting children and women from violence and exploitation. She reassured the Uzbek delegation of the Foundation's readiness to provide support and share knowledge to aid Uzbekistan's efforts to enhance women's and children's status in their society.

In response, the Uzbek delegation expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and the valuable opportunity to learn from Dubai's successful experiences in this critical field. They reaffirmed their keenness to strengthen ties and collaborate with the Foundation in implementing similar programmes in Uzbekistan, thus ensuring the safety and welfare of their citizens.
