SGMB felicitates 387 students completing training courses from its Job Shadow Programme

SHARJAH, 18th July, 2023 (WAM) — The Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) felicitated the students who have completed the specialised training courses conducted in three batches as part of the SGMB’s Job Shadow Programme so far this year.

The popular programme is helmed and conducted by experienced media professionals and administrative staff of the bureau who groom and train these students and future professionals by sharing their valuable expertise and insights and preparing them for the labour market.

During the first half of 2023, the number of students who underwent training in partnership with 14 national and international colleges and universities in the country touched 387. The type of training varied, offering both remote and in-person training to ensure maximum benefit for its members.

The student trainees represented as many as 32 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Palestine, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Algeria, China, Tajikistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Sudan, Eritrea, Ireland, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Australia, Comoros and Rwanda.

The list of educational institutions included in the programme included the Higher Colleges of Technology, American University of Sharjah, Al Qasimia University, University of Sharjah, Zayed University, UAE University, City University in Ajman, Al Wasl University, Ajman University, University of Khorfakkan, Fujairah University of Science and Technology, Umm Al Qaiwain University, Al Jazeera Institute, and the Irish Collist Cholumkil School.

Huda Al Dah, Manager of the Training Department, pointed out that the SGMB programme grows in popularity in the student community, every year. “The Job Shadow Programme has been remarkably successful in meeting its objectives and plans to help students realise their career goals by complementing their educational experience with professional labour market skills in a way that unleashes their capabilities and potential to achieve the highest professional excellence.”

She reaffirmed the SGMB’s keenness to continue its engagement with the students and trainees of the programme as part of Sharjah’s vision and efforts to support students and youth.

Aisha Al Kaabi, Head of the Training Programmes Department, pointed out that the Job Shadow Programme nurtures the competencies and potential of the trainees, thanks to a very comprehensive system of training programmes that empower skills of those with specialisations and experience to continue the path of giving and excellence.

“The Job Shadow Programme encourages students to acquire practical skills by assigning them functional tasks. They are put through rigorous training and action plans under the supervision and guidance of experienced employees,” Al Kaabi added.

The programme is a form of practical application that depends on participation and falls within a time-bound plan with specific goals aimed at students benefiting from the experiences of SGMB’s media professionals and staff.
