ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2023 (WAM) — The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi emphasised the importance of adhering to the stipulated weight for all heavy freight transport vehicles, travelling on Umm Yafina Road in either direction, as not to exceed the permitted weight limit of 45 tonnes and to follow the rules and regulations of the road.
The ITC also stated that as of Monday, 3rd July, 2023, trucks will be fined in case of non-compliance with the Freight Transport Regulations in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and with the specified weight limit.
As part of its efforts to increase awareness amongst heavy vehicles operating companies and drivers, the ITC has carried out awareness-raising campaigns to reiterate the importance of adhering to the clauses of the Freight Transport Regulations, and in particular to those pertaining to weight limits. Noting that the list of violations is available on the Integrated Transport Centre's website or through the integrated “Asateel” platform. Furthermore, the ITC stated that customers can apply for grievance regarding any freight transport violations through the "TAMM" platform for integrated government services, under the section of “Request a Grievance for Transport Violations”, within 60 days of the date of violation.
The Freight Transport Regulations aim to organise and monitor land freight transport activities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, increase the level of traffic safety, maintain the infrastructure of the Emirate's roads, and ensure its sustainability by adhering to safety requirements and standards.
