Sarah Al Amiri chairs Emirates College for Advanced Education Board of Trustees meeting

ABU DHABI, 29th May, 2023 (WAM) — Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE), presided over the second meeting of the college's Board of Trustees at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting focused on reviewing the college's strategic direction and the progress it has achieved to date in developing educational competencies in Abu Dhabi, as well as discussing innovative programs offered by the college.

During the meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed ECAE’s strategy for the years 2023 -2026 that aims to enable educators of the future through a strong focus on educational excellence, lifelong learning and impactful research and innovation.

The members also discussed the future educators’ competency framework and its alignment to career progression pathways, ECAE’s programmes and the UAE Educational Leadership and Teacher standards.

They also discussed the introduction of new signature programmes, which focus on educators' future skills, embed practicum, experiential learning and adopting a holistic assessment framework underpinned by UAE culture and values.

In line with the commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth, the Board discussed the implementation of credit-bearing micro-credentials for educators. These credentials offer targeted development opportunities to enhance educators' expertise and enrich their teaching practices. Additionally, the Board highlighted the development of upcoming Arabic language and Pedagogy Professional development programmes.

Additionally, they explored the latest developments in the college’s research, communication, and partnerships within the field of education.

Present at the meeting were esteemed members of the Board of Trustees of ECAE, namely Bushra Al Mulla, Director-General of the Family Care Authority; Amal Al Jabri, Director-General of the Human Resources Authority of the emirate of Abu Dhabi; Sana Mohammed Suhail, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority; Khulood Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of the Educational Partnerships Sector at the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi; Professor Tan Oon Seng, Director of NIE’s Centre for Research in Child Development, Singapore; and Dr. May Al Taee, Director of the Emirates College for Advanced Education.
