DUBAI, 12th May, 2023 (WAM) — Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, said that the UAE is at the forefront of sophisticated countries developing a scientific and comprehensive strategic framework for advancing, strengthening, and governing the nursing and midwifery professions.
"This is in accordance with health and prevention priorities, cutting-edge best practices, sustainable trends, and national, regional and global charters," Al Owais said in a statement on the occasion of International Nurses Day, marked May 12.
Al Owais said, “The nursing profession is a fundamental pillar of our country's healthcare system and plays a critical role in advancing universal health coverage. Henceforth, the UAE health authorities are committed to fostering an inspiring and supportive work environment while planning for the future of nursing within the context of a forward-looking strategy.”
"We will continue to attract national talents to the profession and invest in sustainable healthcare workforces that support the Emiratisation policy and guarantee its long-term success. We are determined to drive the UAE's strategic vision for the healthcare system to the next level while refining legislation and regulations for the nursing profession to ensure adherence to the most stringent international standards and best practices.”
The minister commended the exceptional performance and dedication of the UAE's nursing workforce, highlighting their crucial role as the first line of defence in healthcare. Their exemplary service at various levels, including strategic planning and healthcare provision, has earned the appreciation and support of the nation's wise leaders.
Al Owais reaffirmed that the nursing profession represents a springboard towards achieving top-tier healthcare leadership, as well as in building a sustainable, internationally recognised health system.
