UAE President’s vision has made country a global model of knowledge-based economic development: Nahyan bin Mubarak

ABU DHABI, 9th May, 2023 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, stressed that the UAE is committed to building a knowledge-based society that will lead to social and economic success, and inspire everyone towards positive change.

Sheikh Nahyan said the UAE’s leaders are keen to make innovation and social development the foundations for sustainable progress and prosperity. The vision and decisions of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have enabled the UAE to become a global model of creating a knowledge-based economy and society.

Under his wise leadership, the country has succeeded through public and private institutions, and created a suitable, attractive and positive working environment that brings together citizens and residents, to create a vibrant and balanced society focused on improving the quality of life of all nationals, he added.

The announcement of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed allocating 2023 as the ‘’Year of Sustainability'' highlighted the leadership’s keenness to utilise the UAE’s resources to gain global leadership in the field of clean technologies, as well as make green technologies models for long-term sustainability while increasing the quality of life of those living and working in the country, he further added.

Sheikh Nahyan made this statement during his opening speech at Sandooq Al Watan's open day event held at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi under the theme, “Innovation and Creativity in the Year of Sustainability.”

The event was attended by Dr. Carlos Alberto Montana-Hoyos, an award-winning designer and academic, and Professor Eric Xing, President of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), in addition to experts and specialists from the real estate sector, the Special Olympics, New York University Abu Dhabi, Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), and the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI), along with international speakers from participating global institutions, who spoke at interactive activities, specialist sessions and discussions held today.

During his visit to the event, Sheikh Nahyan inaugurated a special exhibition showcasing the achievements of students from the seven emirates in the areas of innovation and creativity. The exhibition features a dedicated corner for inspiration, giving students the opportunity to learn about distinctive innovations in environmental conservation, reducing emissions caused by engines, vertical agriculture, and generating drinking water from the surrounding air and atmosphere.
