ABU DHABI, 11th April, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has allocated 12 sites for the establishment of fodder markets in ADAFSA's Fodder Sales Centers in various regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
These sites will accommodate 85 sale outlets allocated to 30 companies selling and marketing fodder. The move aims to regulate the sale, marketing, and trading of fodder in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, empower the private sector, end the random sale of fodder, and eliminate the street vendors to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector and to achieve biosecurity.
ADAFSA has allocated six sites for feed sales markets in Al Ain, accommodating 50 outlets for feed sales and marketing companies. In addition, five sites in Al Dhafra have been designated to accommodate 18 outlets, while one site in Al Faya area in Abu Dhabi will accommodate 17 outlets. It is also considering fresh applications from businesses looking to make use of these available outlets.
It stated that the service embodies its keenness to provide the best services to all customers, meet the needs of breeders, and provide them with the fodder of the appropriate quality and speed, as part of its strategies aimed at regulating fodder sale markets and making them available to livestock breeders across the Emirate and enabling the national private sector to assume this responsibility.
ADAFSA pointed out that safe animal feed is key to protecting animal health and the safety of food products of animal origin. Fodder facilities, including mobile fodder-selling vehicles, are an important part of the food chain, as feed is exposed, during its handling, to a set of risks that may make it harmful to animal health and food safety, which makes these facilities responsible for protecting animal health and food safety. Moreover, feed trading in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is regulated in accordance with local and federal laws and regulations that ensure the safety and health of feeds, protection, and freedom from pollution, preserve animal health, and ensure food suitability for human consumption.
ADAFSA further indicated that the allocation of exclusive sites for the fodder sale markets is a continuation of the controls and mechanisms to regulate the circulation of fodder in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which it applies to all fodder facilities (fodder trading vehicles and fodder shops), as this step serves the owners of licensed fodder facilities for its importance in preventing the random sale of fodder and eliminating street vendors.
