ABU DHABI, 6th April, 2023 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Festival is marking its 20-year anniversary with a series of events, including the return of its Ramadan Spiritual Music Series. The series brings together established and emerging artists from around the world to celebrate the spiritual values that unite people.
The fourth edition of the series features two digital releases by the renowned Egyptian spiritual chanter Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy. "Hymn of Passion" and "The Carpenter's Daughters" will be available on the Festival's YouTube channel on April 7th and 11th respectively, at 22.00 UAE time.
"Hymn of Passion" blends authentic Arabic poetry with modern styles and incorporates Arabic and international music. The performance showcases the beauty of spiritual music and the Arabic language, featuring talented artists such as Hani Shenouda, Sheikh Abdel Rahim Dowidar, Mahmoud Helal, Georgina Helmy, and 30 musicians.
"The Carpenter's Daughters" comprises several famous poems in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, from Egypt, Sudan, Tunisia, and the countries of the Maghreb.
Sheikh Mahmoud El-Tohamy, the sheikh of Egyptian singers, is known for his ability to combine chanting in classical Arabic with multiple musical cultures while maintaining its traditional character. The Abu Dhabi Festival has a long-standing history of collaborating with him.
