Ex-president Jair Bolsonaro returned to Brazil Thursday for the first time since losing the 2022 election to leftist rival Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and leaving for the United States, according to advisers and TV images.
Bolsonaro, 68, arrived in Brasilia on a commercial flight from Orlando, Florida. A crowd of around 200 supporters waving the Brazilian flag gathered at the airport to welcome him, guarded by a heavy police deployment, AFP journalists said.
