SEC approves 1st batch of beneficiaries of housing subsidy 2023

SHARJAH, 21st March, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), chaired on Tuesday the Council's meeting, during which the council approved the first batch of housing subsidy beneficiaries in 2023 that includes 502 beneficiaries with a total of AED378 million.

The first batch included the loans and grants categories in all regions of Sharjah, and is distributed across new construction, completion and maintenance, and ownership of government housing.

The meeting also saw the approval of the list of those exempted from repaying housing loans, amounting to 41 beneficiaries, at a cost of AED29 million.

The SEC discussed the report on the legislative system and its impact on the emirate's economy and its contribution to enhancing its competitiveness.

Over the past years, legislation had multiple amendments to keep pace with Sharjah's growth, enhance government performance, and provide better opportunities for investors.

Moreover, the Council reviewed the Department of Town Planning and Survey's digital transformation report, including the past years' efforts in digital transformation and benefiting from international practices to improve the customer experience.

It also reviewed the department's digital transformation strategy for 2022-2024.

The meeting was held in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of SEC, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of SEC.
