ABU DHABI, 16th March, 2023 (WAM) – Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) held its second annual Internships and Opportunities Fair, providing a platform for master’s and doctoral students to network with industry partners and potentially secure on-the-job experience.
The event was attended by 37 organisations from the private and public sectors, including companies in logistics, healthcare, telecoms, consulting, and financial services.
Professor Timothy Baldwin, MBZUAI Acting Provost, noted that as organisations in the UAE continue to develop in-house AI expertise, demand for MBZUAI students is increasing both for internships and longer-term employment.
The fair also featured a panel discussion with industry experts from DHL and General Motors, providing hints and tips for success in the AI job market.
MBZUAI aims to contribute to the UAE's growing stature as an AI power by applying AI-based solutions to real-world business challenges. The university's first graduating class of 52 students from 24 countries, including eight Emiratis, received postgraduate degrees in computer vision and machine learning. The majority of the inaugural class have confirmed employment or Ph.D. placements at MBZUAI, with 95 percent choosing to remain in the UAE to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s AI ecosystem.
