MBZUH Board of Trustees discuss university’s future programmes and plans

ABU DHABI, 10th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Board of Trustees of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has met for the first time in 2023 at the university’s main campus in Abu Dhabi to discuss the higher education institution’s future programmes and development plans.

The meeting was led by Dr. Mohamed Rashed Al Hameli, with the attendance of the board members.

During the meeting, the Board approved the proposed amendments to the university's organisational structure, the most important of which is the addition of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the strategic plan for the next three years.

They also discussed the most critical needs of the university, including bolstering its publishing initiatives to make its publications on par with worldwide standards and enhancing the skills of university students to give them better employment opportunities.

In addition, the Board reviewed the university's budget for 2023, its vision, mission and objectives, and the academic programmes offered by the university, including accredited degrees and those still being reviewed for future accreditation.

Dr. Al Hameli stressed the importance of the meeting to discuss the university's continued progress and consolidating the university's position in the region as the premier academic centre in the field of the humanities.

He praised the UAE's leadership efforts in supporting academic institutions to advance the nation’s human resources development. Dr. Al Hameli also highlighted the importance of the role of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in creating future leaders, as well as in gathering leading thinkers and academics in the field of the humanities to teach and do research in the university.

The MBZUH board members are Mohammed Hamza Al Qasim, Maryam Eid Al Mheiri, Abdullah Aqueeda Al Muhairi, Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei and Ghanim Sultan Al Suwaidi.
