ABU DHABI, 9th March, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority (ADAA) is set to host the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) annual board meeting for the first time in the region. The meeting will take place from 13th to 17th March, 2023, at the Energy Business Centre in Abu Dhabi, under the theme, “Building the Ethical Foundations for Sustainability” as part of UAE’s “Year of Sustainability”.
More than 55 international members of the board are expected to attend the event to discuss ongoing projects, deliberations, and group pronouncements, including a range of projects managed by IESBA members.
Wael Abdul Qader, Acting Head of Monitoring and Auditing Sector at ADAA, emphasised the application of ethical standards and practices in accounting and audit through hosting this meeting.
Gabriela Figueiredo Dias, IESBA Chair, mentioned that the timing of the meeting is auspicious as it aligns with the UAE’s “Year of Sustainability” and with ADAA’s commitment to promoting accountability, integrity, and transparency. The meeting will allow their work and messages to reach new audiences, helping promote ethics as an integral part of sustainable businesses and economies worldwide.
The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants is an independent global standard-setting body that implements the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, setting a framework of ethical principles for accountants and auditors and ensuring the integration of national and international ethics standards, as well as the application of International Independence Standards.
