Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Indonesia, celebrates Israa and Miraj

SOLO, 4th March, 2023 (WAM) — Marouf Amin, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, attended the commemoration of Israa and Miraj at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the city of Solo, Central Java, in the presence of Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, and a number of senior officials from the Republic.

In his speech, Vice President Amin affirmed his gratitude and appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his dedication to building the mosque, which made it possible for thousands of worshippers in the city of Solo to commemorate this special occasion in the history of Islam.

He added that the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a platform for spreading the Islamic values of mercy, cooperation, peace, and humanitarianism.

For his part, Al Dhaheri said, "The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo is an architectural masterpiece that reflects the depth and strength of UAE-Indonesian relations, and the common desire the two countries have to highlight the authentic and tolerant image of true Islam and the values of humanity that urge coexistence."

Al Dhaheri, on this occasion, prayed for mercy for the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

For his part, Dr. Sultan Faisal Al Rumaithi, CEO of Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Centre in Solo, expressed his happiness at marking this blessed night for Muslims, extending his sincere congratulations to the people of Indonesia on this occasion and on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

In turn, Yaqut Khalil Qumas, Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, stressed that the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a symbol of Indonesia's strong relations with the UAE, highlighting the importance of its role in contributing to spreading a culture of moderation and tolerance.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo on 14th November, 2022, in the presence of Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, as part of the framework to strengthen brotherly relations and friendship between the two countries.
