ABU DHABI, 14th February, 2023 (WAM) — Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, represented by its Zayed City Centre for Care and Rehabilitation in Al Dhafra, is organising the First Al Dhafra Forum for People of Determination 2023, which deals with autism spectrum disorders.

The two-day Forum began on Monday and held via video conferencing with the participation of foreign certified trainers. It aims to shed light on all that is new in relevant research and scientific studies, starting with the life of the child in early intervention and beyond, and consolidate joint regional cooperation.

Reem Al Mazrouei, Director of Madinat Zayed Centre for Care and Rehabilitation, said that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is keen to provide a decent life for all segments of society, especially People of Determination, including those with autism. Abu Dhabi, she said, has established specialised centres to care for and rehabilitate People of Determination and work to empower and integrate them into society.

Zayed Higher Organisation, as part of its responsibility towards the People of Determination, works to raise awareness among families with autistic children about autism disorders and their symptoms, strengthen the role of autistic people and strive towards their inclusion and empowerment in society.

She added, "Therefore, we seek to put targeted projects, initiatives, and programmes within our operational plans, enhancing the role of research and advanced scientific studies in this field to benefit parents and families as well as our specialised cadres."

The Forum focuses on increasing awareness and education with working papers on applied behaviour analysis, by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sheyab, Director of the "ABA RESOURCES" centre and another working paper on promoting independent living for People of Determination by Dr. Isha Khurshid, a consultant in special educational needs in the United Kingdom.
