NEW DELHI, 8th February 2023 (WAM) — India’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, has said his ministry is targeting to reduce the intensity of India’s emissions proportionate to its GDP by 45 percent by 2030.
Addressing the ministerial session of the “India Energy Week,” now ongoing in the south Indian city of Bengaluru, Yadav reiterated India’s commitment to reach the goal of net-zero by 2070.
Thirty oil ministers from across the world, 30,000 delegates, 1,000 industry exhibitors and 500 conference speakers are attending the three-day “India Energy Week”.
He said that in the government’s budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, presented to Parliament last week, one of the top priorities is the greening of the economy. India’s financial year starts on 1st April.
The other budget highlights related to the environment are energy transition, galvanising organic bio-agro resources, grid integration of renewable power, battery energy storage systems and a national green hydrogen mission.
Yadav said these initiatives are opportunities to enhance India’s collaboration with various stakeholders to reshape global partnerships in the energy sector and to better adapt to future challenges.
