President of Japan’s JAXA praises partnership with UAE

ABU DHABI, 19th July, 2023 (WAM) — Yamakawa Hiroshi, President of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), praised the fruitful space partnership between the UAE and Japan and added that the UAE had witnessed significant achievements.
He also said that he was confident, "we will continue to enhance this aerospace partnership. Looking back, we had the precious opportunity of working together in launching the UAE’s first entirely Emirati-made satellite, KhalifaSat, in 2018, and the Emirates Mars Mission’s Hope Probe, UAE’s first uncrewed, interplanetary satellite to study the Martian atmosphere, in 2020 – both via Japan’s H-IIA launch vehicles.
He noted, "This year, by sharing science opportunities onboard Japan’s Kibo Experimental Module on the International Space Station, we will engage in an experiment that can be utilised to create future medicines. We are also collaborating in inspiring future generations by engaging in space education activities through the JAXA-led, Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) framework.
"Space plays an important role in tackling global issues such as climate change and disaster management and uncovering the mysteries of the universe. We are committed to further strengthening our partnership with the UAE to jointly create a better future for humankind," he said in conclusion.
