Dubai Police shares expertise in forensic sciences with UK delegation

DUBAI, 19th July, 2023 (WAM) — Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalita Al Muhairi, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, recently welcomed a delegation from the United Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier Khalid Al Sumaiti, Acting Deputy Director of the General Department of Administrative Affairs, Brigadier Maki Sulaiman, Acting Deputy for Technical Affairs at the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, directors of sub-departments, and a number of officers.

Major General bin Ghalita warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed Dubai Police's eagerness to establish communication bridges and share knowledge, experience, and best policing practices with local and international entities.

Major General bin Ghalita gave the delegation an overview of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, highlighting its unique work mechanism with the utmost confidentiality in handling crime evidence. He emphasided the Dubai Police's commitment to investing in its workforce through specialised academic qualifications in various forensic evidence fields.

Brigadier Khaled Al Sumaiti briefed the delegation on Dubai Police's best practices, initiatives, recent and future projects, research, bulletins, and the latest advancements in genetic fingerprint analysis. He also provided an overview of the role of the International Centre for Forensic Sciences (ICFS) in supporting research in forensic evidence at regional and international levels, the training courses it offers, and its international participation in events covering all scientific specialisations in forensic evidence.

After their visit, the delegation expressed admiration for Dubai Police's advanced forensic science and criminology experience.

Major General Al Muhairi then presented the delegation with a souvenir shield from the Dubai Police to commemorate their visit.
