SHARJAH, 11th May, 2023 (WAM) – The University of Sharjah (UoS) and the University of Exeter (UoE) in the UK jointly organised the "Sharjah-Exeter Symposium" in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Held under the patronage of Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of UoS, and Prof. Garath Stanfield, Vice Chancellor of the University of Exeter, the symposium activated the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two universities in Sharjah in 2022.
The symposium brought together speakers from both universities to present highlights of their individual and team research, exploring collaboration possibilities. The bilingual (Arabic and English) panels included in-person and online sessions, acting as "brainstorming encounters of minds."
On the first day, the symposium covered topics related to Arabic studies, literature, language, history, heritage and education. The second day discussed various topics related to English literature, linguistics, foreign languages, international relations and sociology.
Both universities discussed ways to expand collaboration in exchanging students, faculty members, and researchers and establishing joint academic programmes in all fields of common interest.
