SHARJAH, 3rd May, 2023 (WAM) – H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed, on Wednesday, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the launch of the first edition of the Sharjah Animation Conference (SAC), organised by the Sharjah Book Authority.
The conference takes place in conjunction with the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, from 3rd to 5th May at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad reviewed the agenda of the conference, which includes a group of practical workshops and discussion and dialogue sessions, listening to the most prominent topics of the conference, which is organised for the first time in the region.
The specialised working papers will present the most prominent contemporary and future technologies in the animation industry. The conference is considered a major artistic event and a global platform that offers a unique opportunity and opens a window for all artists in this field.
Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad toured the hall of the conference platforms, where he was introduced to the activities of the conference that open new horizons for those interested in this field to meet the pioneers and professionals of this industry in world, and learn about the latest in the world of animation.
Khoula Al Mujaini, Executive Director of the Sharjah Animation Conference, delivered a speech in which she praised the unlimited support of the Ruler of Sharjah towards knowledge, which has made the Emirate of Sharjah a unique city of arts and culture for all segments of society, and a forerunner in presenting and discussing everything new in the world of knowledge.
Pietro Pinetti, Artistic Director of the Sharjah Animation Conference, delivered a speech in which he discussed the highlights of the conference and the importance of specialising in animation.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad witnessed a musical performance by the Florence Pops Orchestra, in which famous international musical works related to animation were played. The band has become famous for organising concerts and musical performances that inspire audiences around the world.
A number of senior and famous creators in the world of animation are participating in the conference, which is organised by the Sharjah Book Authority in partnership with the Italian Bergamo Animation Days Festival.
Participants present their experiences and research through a range of scientific papers, discussions and dialogues.
The conference includes seminars, workshops, specialised courses and discussion sessions, covering various aspects of the world of animation, from writing, techniques and production. The conference will also witness film screenings and interviews with industry stars.
The Sharjah Animation Conference works to allocate several platforms for acquaintance and exchange between publishers and producers, to facilitate the mechanisms of buying and selling production and publishing rights, as it targets, in particular, specialists and young people, including amateurs and professionals in animation art, in an effort to develop the children's book graphics industry and film production in the UAE and the Arab region.
