ABU DHABI, 23rd March, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi University (ADU)'s College of Arts and Sciences has hosted the tenth Math Competition. The Competition witnessed the participation of over 380 national high school students representing 80 national schools which were divided into 130 teams.
The Competition provided students with the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of mathematics, utilise their critical thinking and solve complex mathematical problems. The Competition focused on two rounds that emphasised flexible thinking, creativity, and logic, applicable in the real world rather than being purely focused on concepts and memorising formulas.
Through the Competition, ADU aimed to support grade 11th and 12th students and prepare them for the demands of university-level education by exposing them to problem-solving competitions that require creative solutions.
The Competition was attended by Professor Ghassan Aouad, ADU Chancellor; Professor Thomas Hochstettler, Provost of ADU; Dr. Sreethi Nair, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at ADU and Dr. Mohammad Fteiha, ADU Director of Al Ain Campus.
In closing, the teams presented their solutions to the jury members and attendees. Following the presentations, jury members announced the winning teams, where the first place went to Yasser Mohammad Abbas and Nanda Venugopal from Merryland International School and the second place went to Nishant Sood and Aahan Kandoth from Sharjah English school. Lastly, the third place was awarded to Aman Hamidsha and Youssef Mohamed Aly from Merryland International School.
In reflection of ADU’s academic excellence, the University continues to roll out competitive and accredited programmes in line with the UAE Government’s National Agenda and scientific research opportunities that foster innovation and creative thinking.
