SHARJAH,15th March, 2023 (WAM) – The Sharjah Police has achieved 98% in the overall Sense of Security Index in Sharjah, along with a set of achievements in the indicators of the national agenda and its strategic objectives during the past year, which is the product of ongoing work reflecting the command’s efforts towards institutional leadership.
This came during the Seventh Media Forum under the theme "The Role of Media in Promoting Sustainable Development", organised annually by the Media and Public Relations Department, in the presence of its strategic partners from various media institutions, to showcase its outstanding achievements over the past year.
The forum, which took place today at the Sharjah Police headquarters, was witnessed by Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, in the presence of Tariq Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Brigadier Arif Al Sharif, Director General of Resources and Support Services, Brigadier Ahmed Al Serkal, Director General of Police Operations, Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Central Operations, Brigadier Dr. Muhammad Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Academy of Police Sciences, Salem Al Ghaithi, Director of Sharjah TV, Deputy Directors General and Directors of Departments, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Butti Al-Hajri, Deputy Director of the Media and Public Relations Department, and a wide presence of representatives of the local Arab, foreign and Asian media.
Major General Al-Shamsi said: "A sustainable partnership with the media is the main supporter in strengthening institutional efforts and the consolidation of security media values and objectives to achieve sustainable security information in Sharjah. At this forum, we thank and appreciate the media at all levels, especially the Sharjah Government Media Bureau and Sharjah Broadcasting Authority as success partners and leadership in the development process of Sharjah,appreciating their important and complementary role in promoting community awareness and achieving the Ministry of Interior’s vision and strategy of 2023-2026, which aims to make the UAE the best country in the world in achieving security and safety.
The forum started with a film reviewing Sharjah Police's pioneering achievements over the past year, which advance sustainable development goals, and enhance the security, community and awareness strategy, after the film, the indicators of the national agenda and strategy and innovative initiatives and projects during 2022 were reviewed.
Lieutenant Yacoub Al-Mansoori from the Strategy and Performance Development Department presented the percentage of sense of security, which contributed to making the emirate a title of security and safety, where the percentage reached (98%). A decrease in the index of crimes of concern per 100,000 people, by (7%), while indicating a significant decrease in the rate of road accidents per 10,000 vehicles, as it reached (22%), in addition to a decrease in the rate of the number of deaths resulting from road accidents per 10,000. vehicle, by ( 22%).
L.t Yacoub added that the indicator of readiness in facing events during 2022 noticed a decrease in the response rate estimated by (15%), as the response time for emergencies reached (4.58) minutes compared to 2021, as the operating rooms have achieved outstanding results in receiving and handling reports according to the standards of quality and efficiency, dealing with (1, 802,933) calls on 999 for emergencies, and (213, 883) calls on 901 allocated for non-emergency cases.
The Customer Happiness Index for Services provided in the service centres reached (94%), with a total number of over 2 million transactions during 2022. The satisfaction rate reached (96%) for the use of online channels, website and the smart application, and (93.7%) satisfaction with services provided through customer happiness centres, reaching (1 min 18 sec) waiting time, waiting rate (1 minute).
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed bin Rabia, Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Department, reviewed the achievements of the Narcotics Control Department at Sharjah Police in preserving a drug-free society and raising awareness of its dangers. The department has achieved an increase in seizures by (7.1%) in 2022 . The most qualitative cases that were seized during 2022 were the “precious hunt”, “Eid operation”, safe suburbs, and” the pre-emptive strike”. The number of awareness programs witnessed an increase by (125) events and activities, rating (54.3%) over last year, benefited from (98 thousand and 252) people.
For the security media, First Lieutenant Manea Al Naqbi, Director of the Security Campaigns Branch at Sharjah Police, reviewed the role of the security media in enhancing the quality of security and community life, and its importance in communicating with all segments of society.
He revealed a (100%) rate for the outreach message index to community members in Sharjah. The number of security and traffic campaigns organized last year reached (17) campaign, benefiting (3, 769, 144). In addition to the media materials that were completed during 2022, which are (478) press releases, (66) film materials, and (368) awareness fillers, in addition to television and radio programs broadcast on Sharjah TV, and (111) events and activities.
Sharjah Police's achievements in 2022 included several strategic security, traffic and community initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life of the UAE community, achieving the vision of the Ministry of Interior to make the United Arab Emirates, the best countries in the world in achieving security and safety.
Major Sultan bin Talea from the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police reviewed the electronic patrols initiative, which aimed to intensify security efforts by following social networking sites, monitoring negative and immoral behaviors and social phenomena.
"Saher"
Major Ahmed Al Muhairi from the Criminal Investigation Department, talked about "Saher" initiative, which is a comprehensive preventive initiative aimed at reducing the rate of disturbing reports, raising the percentage of feeling safe, expanding the circle of receiving information, and quickly detecting crimes.
Major Abdullah bin Al Mazrouei from the Criminal Investigation Department mentioned the “Sadad” initiative, which aimed to settle financial disputes, and ensure that rights are returned to their owners, to ensure social cohesion between members of society, recovered the total sums of money amounting to (AED447.5 million) during 2022.
Colonel Engineer Expert Adel Al-Mazmi, Head of the Forensic Laboratory, reviewed the objectives of the most important pioneering projects achieved by the Criminal Laboratory at Sharjah Police “ the Mummification Project”.
The comprehensive police stations in Sharjah have also accomplished a number of pioneering initiatives, as 1st L.t Salem Hassan Al Ali in Wasit Police Station reviewed the proactive initiative "our Condolences", which completed (1,732) services for organising mechanisms for handing over dead bodies to their families, as well as the Smart Corner initiative, while Major Saud Al-Ahbash, reviewed the rehabilitate service centers project, and Captain Khalid bin Khadim from the Comprehensive Police Station reviewed the visual investigation initiative.
in addition to traffic initiatives, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid bin Sandal reviewed the Sharjah Seniors-Friendly Project, which aims to enhance the community responsibility of older persons, noting that the project has completed since its launch in 2018 (22 thousand and 136) Services for the elderly consisted of transporting them to hospitals. Captain Abdulaziz Al-Mazrou, an officer at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, also reviewed the mobile service center project, which was launched in 2020, and provides (35) traffic and licensing services, indicating the number of beneficiaries of the project so far (1,279) customers, and has reached (79.4%) in the customer happiness index.
1st L.t Badriya Al Naqbi from the Strategy and Performance Development Department, reviewed the achievements that Sharjah Police reaped during 2022, which is obtaining (8) excellence awards at the local, regional and global levels during 2022, which varied between institutional and individual awards, including the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Program for Excellence and Societal Intelligence, the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence, the Sharjah Award for Women.
The number of intellectual works during the past year amounted (114) intellectual works, including Drug imprint, the Guidelines for Governance, the Sharjah Security Eye, and the Smart Periodical.
