ABU DHABI, 23rd February, 2023 (WAM) — The Global Summit of Women in Abu Dhabi concluded on Wednesday after shedding light on the critical role played by women in society.
The two-day summit was held under the patronage of H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).
During the last day of the summit, nine-panel discussions were held with the participation of leading personalities in politics, culture, science and sports.
The summit was crucial, given the increasing demand to create a global platform to express human solidarity, unite efforts to share perspectives, exchange experiences, and propose solutions to common challenges faced by women, including the gender gap.
The summit addressed the intellectual and cultural barriers that stand in the way of empowering women. The discussions in the event identified the opportunities and talent that women need to lead society in a way that qualifies them to play a critical role in education and community development.
The two-day event was organised by the World Muslim Communities Council (TWMCC) and the General Women's Union (GWU), under the theme, "Role of Female Leaders in Peace Building, Social Integration, and Driving Prosperity".
The summit coincides with the 100th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote.
Prominent stateswomen, faith leaders, entrepreneurs, social activists, cultural personalities, media celebrities, and scholars from more than 100 countries attended the event.
