UAQ Ruler chairs meeting of Executive Council

UMM AL QAIWAIN, 21st February, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, today chaired the meeting of the Umm Al Qaiwain Executive Council.
The meeting, held at the Emiri Court, was attended by H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain.
During the meeting, Sheikh Saud lauded the efforts of the teams of the Umm Al Qaiwain Government and their keenness to work as one unit, to achieve the best results and outcomes.
The meeting addressed the issues on its agenda related to a range of key government sectors, as well as improving services, as part of the efforts to enhance the emirate’s overall stature.
The council also heard several resolutions and recommendations aimed at improving government work in the emirate, approved the public budget allocated to the emirate’s government departments in 2023, and reviewed the outcomes of local public authorities’ strategic performance indicators.
The performance indicators of the Department of Economic Development witnessed a rise in terms of several industrial and commercial facilities and GDP growth in 2022, due to a range of incentives provided by the government to attract foreign investors.
The performance indicators of the Department of Tourism and Antiquities witnessed a rise in the number of tourists to more than 100,000 in 2022, in addition to a surge in the number of hotel nights by 53 percent.
The council also reviewed the plans of the Umm Al Qaiwain Industrial Authority and discussed the developments to the emirate’s Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy 2031 and the projects overseen by the Sustainable Blue Economy Office.
The council also approved the establishment of the “Cybersecurity Centre” of the Smart Government Department, as well as a paperless government and the development of smart services by the “UAQ Municipality” and the Department of Economic Development.
