SHARJAH, 10th February, 2022 (WAM) — The Energy Transmission Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) revealed its strategic plan for the development of energy transmission and distribution projects for 2022.
The plan includes the implementation of two power transmission stations voltage of 220 kV, 1 station of 132 kV, and 11 stations of 33 kV, in addition to a number of projects for improving and developing networks and upgrading stations, at an estimated cost of more than AED 925 million.
Hamad Al Tunaiji, Director of the Energy Transmission Department, confirmed that the plan implemented by the Department during 2022 was prepared according to a comprehensive study of networks in all regions in Sharjah and in accordance with the vision and directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
He pointed out that the plan included starting the implementation of the airport station project 220/132/33/11 kV, Al-Shenouf station 220/33 kV, and the Al-Ghubaiba plant project 132/33/11 kV, and the implementation of 11 power transmission stations with a voltage of 33/11 kilovolts include the Aljada plant project (2), Al-Tay station (2), Bee’ah station, Al Madam, Al Qassimi Hospital (1), (2) Al Hoshi, Umm Al Tarfa, Helwan (2), Al Fasht and Al Khalidiyah (1), and the Industrial Area 1.
Ahmed Baniyas, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Transmission, explained that the administration’s plan for 2022 included the implementation of a number of development projects and the modification of networks in a number of regions.
The plan included the work of connecting the network to the Madame area, modifying transmission lines for university stations and industrial Area B (17) and replacing cables for stations Nasiriyah, Sports Center (2), Industrial Zone 7A, Industrial Zone 7B, and the installation of neutral grounding resistors (the third stage) number of 33 units, and the replacement of operating switches 11 KV.
The electric power plant of the Industrial Area (15) and the installation of a magnetic transfer reactor 100MVAR for the folding station of 220 kV, and the installation of electric capacitors of 33 kV. With a capacity of 56MVAR in Al-Majaz and Industrial Area 17A stations, the work of replacing the Sports Center stations 1.2-33 kV, and rehabilitating the electrical switches of the Al-Nasiriya station 132 kV.
He stressed that the technical teams in the Department of Energy Transmission follow up the implementation of projects according to the best technical specifications and follow up on periodic and emergency maintenance work around the clock to provide the best services to the residents of the Emirate of Sharjah.
