Ahmed bin Mohammed receives President of Kuwait Olympic Committee

DUBAI, 21st November 2021 (WAM) – H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), today received in Dubai Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee.

The meeting reviewed the development of the Olympic movement in both countries and the discussions at the 76th Meeting of the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia, and the 40th Asian Olympic Council held in Dubai from 20-21 November.

The meeting also explored ways to promote bilateral collaboration to support the growth of the Olympic movement in both countries. In addition, the two sides discussed major events set to be organised in the coming period including the 3rd edition of the GCC Games that will be held in Kuwait from 9-19 January 2022.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports, and First Vice President of the UAE NOC and President of the Executive Office of the Committee; Mohammed bin Sulayem, Secretary-General of the UAE NOC, and Azza bint Suleiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative Affairs of the UAE NOC.

Dar delivers detailed design and sustainability strategy for new Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar

Dar also delivered the detailed design of the mixed-use masterplan facilities and infrastructure. Dar’s sister Sidara company Maffeis Engineering – one of the world’s most specialized structural engineering consultancies – delivered the detailed design of the stunning and structurally unique roof and façade system. Dar also crafted the sustainability strategy for the stadium, targeting LEED and Mostadam certifications and setting exceptional standards for sustainable stadiums in hot climates, while aligning with Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Green Initiative and local and international regulations. The strategy includes measures for implementing passive and active energy efficiency incorporating demand response technologies, reducing water use, diverting
operational waste away from landfills, and specifying eco-friendly, local, and recycled products.

UAE wins international beach soccer tournament title in China

The UAE national beach soccer team has won the title of the Belt and Road International Beach Soccer Tournament 2024, organised by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) in Weihai, China.

The UAE team secured the title after defeating the Chinese team in three consecutive matches, with the first match ending 4-2, the second 7-3, and the third 4-2.

UAE youth team wins 18 medals at World Jiu-Jitsu Cup 2024 in Croatia

The UAE national Jiu-Jitsu youth team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, concluded its participation in the World Jiu-Jitsu Cup 2024 in Zadar, Croatia, on Saturday evening.

The UAE champions won a total of 18 medals, including 5 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze, in this second edition of the tournament, which was organized by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation and featured over 350 male and female athletes from 24 countries.

Fahad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, thanked and congratulated the UAE’s wise leadership and its people on this well-deserved achievement, which further solidifies the country’s dominance in the global Jiu-Jitsu arena.
